behind the backstop is
yawning next to a woman
on a cell phone waving

I read her lips

she yells
"it's me"

for a second
I feel like I recognize her
and want to hug the tv
because she is leaving me
a message right now

I don't move

because then I would be alone
hugging a tv
because I watched someone
connect with someone else
in the background

and that is
just sad

who am I kidding

I kneel next to it
and embrace machine
